Myrtus communis 'Compacta'
dwarf myrtle
 
As both its vernacular and scientific names suggest, Myrtus communis 'Compacta' is smaller than the species. Also, it has smaller leaves and the foliage is denser. Otherwise, it is similar to the species.
This smaller variety is suitable for hedges and topiaries. It also can be grown in containers.
 
Leaves are evergreen, small, densely set, glossy deep-green, with a pointed apex, aromatic when crushed.
