Description
General aspect and origins - Gardenia taitensis, sometimes refered as Gardenia tahitensis is also known as Tahitian gardenia or Tahitian tiaré. (Tiaré means flower in Tahitian.) It is the symbol of Tahiti.
Leaves - Leaves are evergreen, oposite and can be up to 6 in (15 cm) long and 3 in (7.5 cm) wide. They are glossy dark-green on the upper side, and light-green on the underside.
Flowers - This plant have white flowers with a most heavenly scent, which is like no other. Flowers have 5 to 8 petals and are sterile.Culture
Soil - This plant likes rich, well-drained and moist soils.
Note - This plant is not an easy grower, and requires a lot of skills and care when grown outside the tropical zones.Propagation
This plant is propagated by cuttings.
