Cestrum nocturnum
night-blooming jasmine, night queen, lady of the night
 
Cestrum nocturnum is also known as night-blooming jasmine, night queen or lady of the night. It is a small and relatively fast-growing shrub, that has small and powerfully scented small flowers that bloom in the night. (As suggests its common names)
Cestrum nocturnum in an interesting plant for mild climates that are frost-free. However, it can withstand occasional freezing temperatures, down to about 26°F-28°F (-2°C to -3°C) and thus can be grown in USDA zones 9b and warmer.
 
This shrub has simple leaves that are 4 to 8 in (10-20 cm) long. They are dark green and glossy. This shrub is evergreen to decidious, according to the climate.
Cestrum nocturnum blooms in the summer and early fall. Flowers are greenish white and small. They open at night and are powerfully scented.
This plant produces small white berries that are inedible.
