Description

General aspect and origins - Romneya coulteri is also known as Matilija poppy or tree poppy. This perennial shrub is native to Southern California, and can be up to about 6 ft (2 m) tall. It has a deeply lobed grey-green foliage, and large white flowers.
Leaves - Leaves of Romneya coulteri are grey-green, deeply-lobed and semi-decidious to evergreen, depending on the winter conditions.
Flowers - Flowers are white with yellow stamens, and can be more than 8 in (20 cm) wide. They are slighly fragrant.

Culture

This plant is relatively frost hardy, as it will withstand negative temperatures down to about 15°F (-10°C)
Soil - The poppy tree can easily withstand droughts. However, it will have a better aspect if regularly watered during the summer.

Propagation

This plant can be propagated by seeds, cuttings, and suckers division. The last method is the easiest one.
