Romneya coulteri
Matilija poppy, tree poppy
 
Romneya coulteri is also known as Matilija poppy or tree poppy. This perennial shrub is native to Southern California, and can be up to about 6 ft (2 m) tall. It has a deeply lobed grey-green foliage, and large white flowers.
This plant is relatively frost hardy, as it will withstand negative temperatures down to about 15°F (-10°C)
 
Leaves of Romneya coulteri are grey-green, deeply-lobed and semi-decidious to evergreen, depending on the winter conditions.
Flowers are white with yellow stamens, and can be more than 8 in (20 cm) wide. They are slighly fragrant.

The poppy tree can easily withstand droughts. However, it will have a better aspect if regularly watered during the summer.
