Lantana camara, commonly named lantana, is a small evergreen shrub, that can reach 2 ft to 6 ft (60 cm to 2 m) tall and wide. This plant is native to tropical areas, and more precisely to India. Tiny flowers are borne in panicles, and are of various colors. Leaves are evergreen to semi-decidious, depending on the climate.
This shrub grows in Mediterranean regions with mild winters, in subtropical areas and in tropical areas, where is almost blooms all the year round. In warm climates, lantana can easily become invasive.
Lantanas can withstand negative temperatures down to 25°F - 28°F (-2°C to -4°C)
Lantana has an evergreen to semi-decidious foliage, depending on the climate where this plant is grown. Leaves are pointed and serrated, deep-green, and can be up to about 2 - 4 in (5 - 10 cm) long.
Flowers are grouped into 2 in (5 cm) wide clusters, and are of various colors, depending on the varieties. They can be a combination of white, yellow, orange, pink, red... this combination varying with age.
Fruits of lantana are little green berries, that turn black when ripe. These berries are toxic.
