Roystonea regia
royal palm, Cuban royal palm
 
Roystonea regia, also known as Cuban royal palm or simply royal palm, is a massive palm which is native to Cuba and Honduras. It has a beautiful crown of pinnate leaves, and a grey trunk which bulges and give the palm a specific aspect. This palm can reach up to 60 ft (20 m) tall.
The royal palm is a tall and massive showy palm, that can withstand brief cold spells down to 28°F (-2°C). But it is best grown in frost free areas, in USDA zones 10b and warmer.
 
The royal palm has pinnate leaves that can be up to about 10 ft (3 m) long.
The royal palm has white-cream to yellow-cream inflorescences and are up to about 3.5 ft (1 m) long.
Fruits are oblong and purple, and contain a unique seed.

These palm trees prefer well-drained and moist grounds, but can withstand occasional droughts.
