Description

General aspect and origins - Melaleuca nesophila, syn. Melaleuca nesophylla is also known as pink Melaleuca. It is an evergreen shrub which is native to Australia, that can reach up to 20 ft (6 m) tall, but which won't generally be taller than 10 ft (3 m). It bears showy pink and globular flowers.
Leaves - Leaves of Melaleuca nesophilla are evergreen. They are grey-green, oblong and are about 1 in (2.5 cm) long.
Flowers - This Melaleuca has showy pink-mauve globular flowers. They have numerous pink stamens with yellow tips, that turn white when older.

Culture

The pink Melaleuca is a rare plant in its native area, in Australia. It is a relatively frost tender shrub. However, it will withstand brief negative temperatures down to about 26°F (-3°C).
Soil - This Melaleuca prefers fairly drained grounds.

Propagation

Melaleuca nesophila can be propagated by seeds or cuttings.
