Passiflora antioquiensis
red banana passion flower

Passiflora antioquiensis, the red banana passion flower, also known as the red curuba, is a close relative of Passiflora mollissima, (syn. Passiflora tripartita var. mollissima) the banana passion flower. It is less vigorous than P.mollissima, and its pendulous flower is red-pink, with a very long peduncle.
It is a very showy passionflower that can withstand frosts down to about 28°F (-2°C). Moreover, it will thrive in regions with cool summers.

Leaves are evergreen, generally deeply trilobed, each lobe margin being serrated.
Flowers of the red banana passionflower are very showy. They are pendulous, and of a red-pink color. The peduncle is very long, up to 2 ft (60 cm) long.
The fruit of the red banana passionflower is edible, and is said to be very tasty. The fruit skin is not red (the common name "Red banana passionflower" referring to the flower rather than the fruit) but yellow to golden-orange. In fact, it is very similar to the banana passion fruit. (P.mollissima). The red banana passionflower is seldom grown for its fruits.
