I wnated to take a minute to thank this site for the information available.
I have transplanted from the west coast to Wyoming and have found that I miss the plants that I'd taken for granted in the past. Jasmine and Bird of Paridise being two of the many.
I came here looking for a jasmine thas I can grow outside my kitchen window. I may have to try my luck with a combination of the Chinese evergreen and Pink winter.
Just a note on the Bird of Paradise, they can be rather scruffy and oozy but the ones I found most amazing. must have been giants. were at a hotel in Puerto Rico. They separated them out and grew them into a fan pattern.

Hi new2u,
Thanks for the comments.
As for the Birds of Paradise (BoP), you certainly refer to the white BoP or giant BoP, which are two species that are quite different from the "common" orange BoP (=Strelitzia reginae)

- Strelitzia alba
- Strelitzia nicolai
have both indeed, as you said, a fan pattern when established. If you want to grow your own BoP in a container, I advise you begin with the orange BoP, S. reginae : It is much smaller than the others.

Hi, what is 'Chinese evergreen' ? Are you referring to Trachelospermum sp. ?
Etto.
