(2005/7/5 4:29) Prickly pears (opuntia) cuttings?
Hello,

I've been given some "leaves" (what's the name?) of prickly pear. I'd like some hints for the best way to root these.
All advises will be appreciated :-)
Regards

Hi Rajesh,

From what I read on the Net, rooting Opuntia cuttings is fairly easy :
- allow the cuttings to heal off for a few weeks (a couple of weeks should do the trick) and then plant them directly in the ground.
- Can be done in the growing season, E.g May to August.

Good luck with your cuttings 8-)

Got some opuntia ficus indica pads from a trip to Florida, put them in a little soil, one had three or four little pads coming out of it, but then it suddenly started to rot. Why? I only watered it a couple of times in the month I had them. Any ideas?
