just wanted to pass on info. Carambola aka starfruit is toxic and could be deadly to people with kidney failure or who are uremic.  Please see the article:

Intoxication by star fruit (Averrhoa carambola) in 32 uraemic patients: treatment and outcome

In this study, some of the patients who ate starfruit actually died.

If you have appointments with a kidney doctor or nephrologist, or are already on hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis, please ask the doc or your dietitian why you can't ever, ever eat carambola.
