My daughter was given this plant in Townsville Queensland Australia. She was told it was a hardy native tree. Thought it may be an umbrella tree though not convinced. Any ideas?

Maybe some species of schefflera ? The leaves remotely remind me of the genus ... I'll try to search my own documentation this evening.
