Well, I know, "spineless" is kind of presumptuous for a Yucca. I'll reformulate my question: Are there Yuccas far less spiky than spanish daggers and other Yuccas with very sharp spines ?
I already know Yucca elephantipes. Excellent choice, but I'd like to know if the genus has other species matching this criterion?
I know it won't exactly answer your question, but did you think about relatives such as Cordyline (australis, indivisa, stricta and others) and Dracaena draco ? The latter is an excellent landscape plant, I suppose it will do well in California.
