 Hi
I'd like some info about ornamental gingers hardiness. I fell in love with these flowers.
Any help appreciated!

 Hello GingerSt

I'm not a specialist about gingers. But here is some information, as a starting point, about some more or less hardy gingers :
- Hedychium coccineum (red ginger lily) orange/red flowers
- Hedychium coronarium (Hardy Butterfly Ginger) white, z7+
- Hedychium densiflorum
- Hedychium ellipticum
- Hedychium flavescens
- Hedychium 'Gold Flame' peach/white, z7+
- Hedychium 'Dr.Moy', z7+
- Hedychium spicatum

I'm sure there are many others, but hope it helps.
Regards, Etto

 Etto,

Many thanks for the valuable infomation. I did not think so many gingers could be somewhat frost-hardy, I thought most of them were purely tropical. That's good news, and I'll investigate further the subject.

 Hello,

I suggest you have a look at this book : "Hardy Gingers: Including Hedychium, Roscoea, and Zingiber"
by T. M. E. Branney, ISBN 0881926779.

I've had this book for 2 weeks and don't regret the purchase. I'm pretty sure you'll like it too.
