 Yeah, I know, old used topic.
But I'd really like many sorts of palms in my garden, where winter temps usually hit the low twenties (We have dry winters, though).
I already thought of Trachycarpus, dwarf chamaerops, sabal, ... and what  I think it's too cold for Phoenix, unfortunately. I don't know much about other cold hardy species that wouldn't be marginal here.
Any hints? Thanks!

 Hello Greg, welcome 
I think you have a wide choice in climates where winter temperatures do not drop bellow 20°F too often. There are numerous genus and species, but you could start with (to name a few) :
- Rhapidophyllum hystrix, the needle palm
- Nannorrhops ritchieana, the Mazari palm
- also, as you mentioned, Trachycarpus, but not only Trachycarpus fortunei (Chusan palm), but also Trachycarpus wagnerianus, with more rounded leaves, Trachycarpus takil, as frost hardy as the two former...
You can also have a look at
- Butia (Butia capitata, Butia yatay, ...)
- Brahea (Brahea edulis, Brahea armata with blue leaves)
- Sabal
- Trithrinax campestris
- and many more!
I think you can have a great collection of palms in your garden

Interesting list, I'll try to get some more information, I'm interested 
BTW, are there other interesting Trachycarpus species? You named fortunei, wagnerianus and takil... Are there other that might prove hardy?

Hi all,
I always enjoy these hardy-stuff topics!
I'd like to mention also the following interesting palms :
- Jubaea chilensis : don't forget that one! A huge palm with pinnate leaves that can tolerate ~15°F.
- Livistona australis : beautiful, about 20°F
- Sabal minor : yes, I'll second this one : Dwarf Palmetto is an interesting palm. Almost as hardy as the needle palm
- Serenoa repens : another dwarf palm that tolerates about 10°F

Yep, I forgot to mention the Chilean Wine Palm, Jubaea chilensis, but I think highly of it 
A massive palm tree which is fairly frost hardy. Too bad it is such a slow grower when young.
