Hi,
I am a proud owner of a big Tibouchina, which i regularly prune to be able to keep it inside at least one part of the year. I'd like to propagate this Tibouchina by cutting after my next pruning session. Any tips on easily propagating tibouchina? Many thanks. Also, someone knows how frost hardy this beautiful plant is? -- Kacey

Hello Kacey. I don't have a Tibouchina of my own, as I think my region in Northern Italia is a bit cold (-8°C are not uncommon here in winter). However, a friend of mine in a coastal zone has beautiful specimens, which did not die at about -2°C to -3°C. So it is rather frost hardy I would say. No idea about Tibouchina propagation. Etto.

Thanks Etto for the hardiness information. Always interesting to know about that, in case I forget my Tibouchina outside during a cold winter night Kacey

I'll second Etto for Tibouchina urvilleana, which can resist 27°F-28°F from what I heard.
But :
1 - I think the urvilleana species is one of the hardiest Tibouchina, I won't be true anymore with granulosa, organensis, or heteromalla, IMHO.
2 - These frosts should be extremelly occasional and brief. Otherwise I don't think the plant will really recover! If you forget your potted plant one or two nights a year, Kacey, it should be okay

Hi everybody,
I have a big Tibouchina urvilleana in my yard, which has suffered 28°F/30°F frosts without protection. To my surprise, strongly recovered the next spring.
