Cestrum elegans syn. C. purpureum is also known as the red Cestrum or the purple Cestrum. This shrub is native to Mexico, and has an evergreen foliage and ornamental purple-red flowers.

Abutilon megapotamicum is also known as flowering maple or trailing abutilon. It is a shrub which is appreciated for its ornamental hanging red and yellow lantern-like flowers.

Eucharis amazonica is also known as the Amazon lily. This bulbous plant is native to South America, and more precisely to Columbia. This plant has both ornamental foliage and flowers.

Passiflora racemosa, syn. P. princeps is a vine which is native to Brazil and which bears ornamental red flowers that are grouped in racemes (which explains its species name.)

Passiflora sanguinolenta is also known as the blood-red passionflower. This vigourous vine has angular and hairy stems. It is native to the mountains of Ecuador and Venezuela. It bears interesting pink to red flowers.

Russelia equisetiformis is also known as the coral plant, firecracker plant or fountain plant. It is a shrub which is native to Mexico. It has slender stems and a few and small leaves. It bears many tubular red flowers, which explains its common names.

Acacia melanoxylon is also known as blackwood wattle. This Acacia species is native to Tasmania and Eastern Australia. It is a fast grower and has a rather erect aspect, which explains why it is often used as a street tree.

Tecoma capensis syn. Tecomaria capensis syn. Bignonia capensis syn. Tecomaria petersi is commonly known as the Cape honeysuckle. This erect shrub is native to South Africa. It can be trimmed as a hedge, or can be grown against a wall, where it can cover large areas if manually attached.

Dalechampia roezliana is a species which was dedicated to Jacques Delacamp, a French botanist who wrote Historia generalis plantorum in 1554. D. roezliana is a perennial which is native to Argentina and Mexico. It is a small shrub with erect stems, unlike other Dalechampia species. It can be up to about 1.5 ft (45 cm) tall and wide.
